Bradley, Jr. wins Montalbano Award PDF Print E-mail

Center fielder Jackie Bradley, Jr., who batted .315 while splitting last season between Advanced Class-A Salem and Double-A Portland, is the winner of the 2012 Greg Montalbano Minor League Award as selected by the Boston Chapter of the BBWAA.

Bradley finished the 2012 season with 9 home runs, 63 RBI, 90 runs and 24 stolen bases in 128 games for Salem and Portland, just his second year of professional baseball. The Virginia native, who played college baseball at South Carolina, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2010 College World Series.

Among the previous winners of the Montalbano Award are Jacoby Ellsbury, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester, Bronson Arroyo, Trot Nixon and Eric Wedge.

Bradley will be recognized at the chapter’s 74th annual awards dinner on January 24, 2013 at the Westin-Copley Hotel in Boston.
